JoAnna Hairston Obituary

April 13, 1939 – February 20, 2024

JoAnna Hairston moved on to her heavenly home on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.

JoAnna was born to the late Edna Anna and Herbert Cool. She is preceded in death by her siblings Ronald, Harry, Lavonne, James, Gladys, and Glenna. She is survived by her daughters Diane Renee and Stephanie Hairston, as well as several nieces and nephews, and their families.

Originally from West Virginia, JoAnna graduated from Alderson Broaddus University. She lived much of her life in the Cleveland , OH area, retiring from Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. JoAnna’s world revolved around her children, family, and friends. She enjoyed gardening, especially planting marigolds. She loved to bake all sorts of goodies - cookies, muffins, and her favorite lemon pound cake. JoAnna was known for writing handwritten notes, and she liked having parties.

JoAnna lived in the Pittsburgh, PA area during the final years of her life. She was loved by many and was a beloved member of Bellefield Presbyterian Church. She was passionate about helping those less fortunate, women, and children, and it was common to hear of her going around to rooms in the skilled nursing facility saying prayers for others.

JoAnna was positive all the time, and she regularly spoke of all the blessings in her life. She always persevered; she did not believe in giving up no matter the circumstances. She was loving, generous, always thinking of others, and wanting to do things for others. She will always be loved and remembered. 
 

Friends received at Charles W. Trenz Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday March 8, 2024 from 4-7 PM. 

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024, at11:00 am at Bellefield Presbyterian Church, 4001 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
