Age 105, of San Pedro, CA , formerly of Pittsburgh, on Tuesday September 10, 2019. Beloved father of Eugene (Linda) of Norwalk, CT, Dr. Robert (Laurie) of San Pedro, CA. Grandfather of Lauren McCann (Brian) of Fairfield, CT, Jeffrey Autore of Queens, NY , Michael Autore of NY,NY, Robert Autore and Danielle Autore of San Pedro, CA. Beloved “ Big Pap Pap” of great grandchildren Emma, Fallon and Colt McCann of Fairfield, CT. He was the revered Uncle Guy to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by the love of his life Celeste (Marconi), his brothers Joseph and David, and sisters Elizabeth Moschella, Helen Suriano, Caroline Lacerra and Rose DeNapoli.
He spent his career with the U.S. Postal Service , was inducted in the Army in 1941 and returned after WWII. He retired as a Chief Finance Examiner. He earned his commission as an army infantry officer and served five years active duty. He served in Hawaii, Guadalcanal and several other Solomon Islands. He participated in the landing on Luzon in the Philippines as company commander of an Anti-Tank Company. He was released from active duty in 1946, remained in the Army Reserve until retiring in 1974 as a Lt. Colonel. He will be buried with military honors.
