Afra (Canzian) Miglioretti

On September 30, 2023, at the age of 101, Afra passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord while at Seneca Manor. Born in the East End of Pittsburgh on June 22, 1922, she graduated from Westinghouse High School in 1940 and was a resident of Penn Hills since 1957. Afra was characterized by her loving devotion to family, an endless generosity to the many she considered friends, and kindness to all she met. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo, cooking for her family, sipping tea, and bowling into her early 90’s. She always was a giving person and volunteered at the Old Pittsburgh Hospital and St. Margaret’s Hospital for many years.

Afra was the daughter of Angelo and Giuseppina Canzian, originally from the town of Cappella Maggiore in the Province of Treviso, Italy, and sister to Nino, Mary, Alfeo and Alcide. She was the beloved wife of 43 years to the late Rino V. Miglioretti, who passed on August 28, 1984.

She is the mother of three sons, Severo C. Miglioretti (wife Sheryl) of Plum, the late Martin G. Miglioretti of Houston TX, and Rino D. Miglioretti (wife Doreen) of Monroeville.

Afra was the beloved grandmother of 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Maria Miglioretti (husband Lucky with great granddaughter Julianna), Diana Miglioretti (husband Jason), Severo Miglioretti (wife Jessica with great grandson Gianluca), Maura Miglioretti (husband Kevin), and Marina Miglioretti (partner Charlie).

Afra was a sister-in-law to Armida, Bob, Helen and Ann and an aunt to Jimmy, Tommy, Eileen, Bobby, Dave, Ricky, Daniel, Michael, Mark, Mary Beth, Paul, Germaine, Philip, Blaise, Anita, and Christian.

Friends will be received on Thursday, October 5th  from 2 -8 pm at the Charles W. Trenz Funeral Home, Inc., 11110 Frankstown Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235 with Funeral Mass held on Friday, October 6th at 10:30 am at Holy Family Parish, Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 825 Second Avenue, Verona, PA 15147.
