Andrew C. Stowell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Andrew(Andy) Caton Stowell on Thursday, July 31, 2025. Beloved son of the late Dolores and Charles Stowell. Brother of Susan Stowell Sauer (Jim), Craig Stowell (Janet) and the late Kirk Stowell. He is also survived by three nephews, Jason (Amy)Stowell, Brian (Michelle) Stowell and Patrick (Marci) Stowell. He was close to his grand nieces and nephews, Sabrina, Shae, Alyssa, Abby, Jason, Asher, Aniah, Annabelle, Maximus and Bo. 

Andy graduated from Penn Hills High School in 1984 and Carnegie Mellon University where he received a Bachelor of the Arts, Professional and Creative Writing degree in 1988. Andy worked full-time as a sales person and Supervisor in the Central Box Office for the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust for 25 years. Andy also worked with their union relations for both the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and the Pittsburgh Symphony during this time and worked extensively with the adaptation and implementation of the Tessitura Ticket Software System. He served in the role of Treasurer of IATSE, Local 862. Andy also worked for Gargaro Productions and The Pittsburgh Pirates earlier in his career.

His gentle nature, thoughtful heart and quiet strength touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, generosity and friendship will live on.

Friends received at Trenz Funeral Home, 11110 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude Parish, St. Raphael Church 1154 Chislett Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15206 on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at 10:00 AM. FRIENDS PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Interment after mass at Calvary Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers because of his love and appreciation of the arts, the family suggests contributions be made to the Danny Devine Foundation that honors the late artist Danny Devine and offers free youth art programming to disadvantaged Pittsburgh youth or any arts endeavor of your choice in memory of Andy.
