Carmella “Billie” Paraggio, age 100, passed away on Mother’s Day after a long, joyful and well-lived life. She was beloved by all who knew her for her vibrant spirit, outgoing personality, and fierce love for her family.
Billie was married to her high school sweetheart, Eddie, for 66 years until his passing 10 years ago. Together they built a beautiful life and raised 3 children, Debbie (Rick) Ostien who lives in Connecticut, Cindy (Patsy) Franceschelli from Pittsburgh, and Paul (Lynne) Paraggio who lives in Virginia.
A graduate of Westinghouse High School, Billie began her career as a telephone operator & later found great joy & success in retail – especially in helping brides & their parties find the perfect dresses. Her talent & enthusiasm made her a standout in the wedding industry.
She & Eddie shared a love of travel, enjoying countless adventures across the country & around the world with friends. Billie was known for always speaking her mind – with or without a filter – which only made her more endearing to those around her.
She loved her grandchildren Matt (Amy) Ostien, Danielle (Mike) Kneeland, Dante (Katie) Franceschelli, Seve (Lindsey) Franceschelli, Alex Paraggio and Carlo (Marissa) Paraggio. She also loved her 4 great grandchildren (Emma, Molly, Olivia, & Gio) & was awaiting the birth of two more in May. Her nieces and nephews adored her and frequently checked in on her, reflecting the deep connections she maintained throughout her life.
“Billie” lived independently in her home until she was 98 1/2 years old, a testament to her strength and spirit. She is survived by her sister, Julia Papale (101 ½) & was preceded in death by her brother, Vincent Garofalo and her parents Joseph & Mary Garofalo.
Billie’s warmth, humor and love will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Family & friends are welcome at Trenz Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 14 from 3-7. A blessing service will be held at the Funeral Home at 10:30am Thursday, followed by a private Internment.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Billie’s name to Westmoreland County Food Bank (https://westmorelandfoodbank.org).
