Cynthia Marie Hanzel (Cindy)
Beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at 70 years old on August 17th, 2023. She resided her entire life in the Churchill and Penn Hills area of Pittsburgh. She was preceeded in death by her husband of 31 years Gerald Hanzel, and her loving parents Samuel and Aileen Pace. Cindy is survived by her son Eric Hanzel (Maria), granddaughter Alessandra Hanzel, sister Diane Benick (Jim), and brothers Sam Pace (Lisa), and Steve Pace (Cindy). Also survived by wonderful nieces and nephews. Cindy was a very kind and generous person who could strike up a conversation with anyone. She was a devoted friend and great listener with a zest for living life to the fullest. All she could think about was how everyone else could have a great time and was unconcerned with herself. She showed exceptional determination fighting through many health issues over the last 30 plus years of her life and always climbed through these dark times into the light to always be there for family and friends. Through all of her health issues she attained her RN license as well. She enjoyed movies, music, tv shows, spending time with her family, holidays, dinners out, family vacations, and most of all she cherished every single second she could spend with her granddaughter who knew her as Mammer. Friends will be received Wednesday 4-7 pm at CHARLES W. TRENZ FUNERAL HOME, INC., 11110 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills; Funeral Mass at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, St. Maurice Church, Thursday at 11 am.
