James Sterner

Of Penn Hills, Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on January 18, 2024; Beloved husband of Elaine Sterner; Loving father of Megan Westerhoff, Jennifer Milko, Carrie Dzuban, and Allison Binenkorb; Jim has 13 grandchildren;  Brother of Linda Kenney and Joan Kristoff; Brother in law of Carole Daniels.

He was a retired schoolteacher from the Penn Hills School District, and was a long time high school and college wrestling referee. During his time as a referee, he officiated many WPIAL , PIAA, and NCAA matches, including NCAA D1 national championship matches. 

Friends received Sunday 2-6 PM at CHARLES W. TRENZ FUNERAL HOME INC., 11110 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills; the funeral service to be held Monday at the funeral home, 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society.
