John Richard Greer, 73, of Plum (formerly of Level Green), died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. He was a graduate of Temple University and served as a Captain in the U.S. Army. He worked as a postman in Turtle Creek and taught history and sociology at WCCC until his retirement in 2005. He loved spending time with his family, serving his church as a Deacon and choir member, and “farming” in his garden. He was a loving husband and father, a man of strong faith, and never had a bad word to say about anyone (except politicians). He was adored by his family and is survived by his wife Sandra, his three children Stephen (Lisa) Greer, Shannon (William) Cecchetti, and Sandra (Michael) Gartland. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Michael, Anna, Samuel, and John Gartland; Sophia Cecchetti; and Gracie and Emrys Greer. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Greer, and two sisters, Kathy Greer and Cheryl Ben-Ami.
Due to the pandemic, the family will be holding a memorial service in the spring at Hebron Presbyterian Church.
