Joseph Palumbo

Joseph Palumbo, age 85, of Penn Hills, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2023. A beloved brother and uncle, Joe never had children of his own, but he showered his siblings, nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews with generosity and love. He is the brother of Michael (Evelyn) Palumbo. He was preceded in death by his sister Teresa (Vince) Gazzo, brother Angelo (Marge) and brother Rocco (Lin). Family was very important to Joe and he always took extra care to make their time special. Uncle Jr as he was affectionately known was never afraid to take the lead, he could often be found at the head of the buffet line. He was the only one permitted to slice the Italian bread at Sunday dinners. Joe was very proud of his time as a waiter at Webster Hall and the friendly Pittsburgh Pirates he served. He worked at Bacharach Inc. for more than 20 years. He had many friends and could often be found hosting a Friday night bocce league in his backyard or Saturday morning breakfast club. He came to be known as the "Answer Man" as he knew a little bit about alot of things and was never afraid to laugh at himself and share a joke. In his later years he spent many afternoons at Highland Park and worked at solving the problems of the world with his tight knit group. Family and friends received Friday September 22, 2023 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at CHARLES W. TRENZ FUNERAL HOME, INC., 11110 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills; a Blessing Service will be held Saturday September 23, 2023 at 10 AM at the funeral home; In Joe’s memory, please consider making a donation to the Penn Hills Program for Developmentally Challenged Children and Adults.
