Joseph A. Pegnato
Born in New Castle and residing in Churchill, Joseph A. Pegnato, 101 years of age, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2026, after a special time surrounded by family and friends. Joseph earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Carnegie-Mellon University and a Master of Education from the University of Pittsburgh. Joseph, known by his stage name Bobby Jule, had a forty-year career as a comedy juggler who traveled the world entertaining audiences with live shows and television performances. He was a lifelong member of the International Jugglers’ Association and has received many awards. Joe was rated among the top 5 jugglers in the world. He was the first to juggle five clubs on television and was recently proclaimed by peers to be the oldest juggler alive when he performed briefly at his 100th birthday party. Joseph had a career as the head of the art department at Churchill High School, where he instructed many students in photography, ceramics, visual arts and calligraphy. Some of his successful students continued to gift him with their art.
Joseph is survived by his sons Kevin J. Pegnato and Robert J. Pegnato and wife Rosalinda, grandchildren Joseph, Alexandra, Ian, Carlos and Michael and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Maria Vacco, his parents Antonio and Filomena, and siblings John, Maddalena, Nick, Lena, Maria, Philip, Angelo, Carl and Frank.
Joe will always be remembered for his warmth, kindness, talents, wisdom and sense of humor. His presence was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
A celebration of life visitation will be held at Charles Trenz Funeral Home, 11110 Frankstown Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235 on Thursday, June 4 from 4-8:00 and on Friday, June 5 from 10-11:00 prior to the 11:00 blessing service, followed by burial in the Homewood Cemetery.
