Lawrence “Larry” John Chertik III, 35, unexpectedly passed away on February 20, 2023 with his family by his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Alesia and John Truxell and Lawrence J. Chertik Jr, sister Katelyn Chertik, brother Michael Truxell, and niece Amelia Mackowick. He is also survived by an unimaginable amount of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him deeply. Larry’s love of life was evident in the way he lived, and he leaves behind a profound legacy and loss for everyone who’s had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a 2006 graduate of Central Catholic High School, where he was a dedicated Viking and contributed to the team winning 2 WPIAL championship, as well as a PIAA state championship. Larry graduated from Penn State University’s Smeal College of Business in 2010, where he committed numerous hours to one of his favorite philanthropy’s, THON, and ran his fraternity’s social committee, where he learned to become the life of the party. Early in his career, Larry was fortunate to accept a job that allowed him to travel the world and visit over 25 countries. Anyone who knows Larry knows that family meant everything to him, and in his eyes, everyone reading this is his family. He was an extremely proud and fiercely loyal son, brother, uncle, friend, and Steelers fan. Larry’s passion for life transformed the lives of everyone he encountered. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people, give everything of himself in everything that he did, and evoke that same spirit of love in each person he knew. Larry was an unrelenting advocate for being who you are and doing what you love. Loud, funny, intelligent, goofy. There is so much more that should be said, but in the end, what he did was make our world brighter. We love and miss you, Larbear.
Please join us for a visitation in Larry’s honor on Sunday, February 26, 2023, from 2-5 PM, a Blessing Service to begin at 430 PM, at Trenz Funeral Home, 11110 Frankstown Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
