Mary Ann Laughlin Obituary

Mary Ann (Mare) Laughlin, a resident of the Lawrenceville community in Pittsburgh, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Forbes Hospital surrounded by her sister and friends. Born on August 25, 1952 and raised in the East Liberty neighborhood, Mary Ann was a proud graduate of Sacred Heart High School and Slippery Rock University. Mare was preceded in death by her parents Bartley and Phyllis Laughlin, her sister, Janet Frank and Brother in-laws, Denny Frank and David McMahon. Mare is survived by her sister Linda Seaman and Brother in-law, David Seaman. She was a beloved Aunt to Brian Frank (Lindsay); Jeff Frank (Stephanie) and Ryan McMahon (Crystal). Mare treasured and adored her great nieces and nephews: Jackson, Makenna, Emma, Carter, Carson, Carli, Rylynn and Ty. Mare was a beloved friend to Nancy Sweeney and Halee Ranck and she was a dear friend to so many it would be impossible to list
To meet Mare was to love her. She instantly made you smile or laugh. Whether it be one of her classic sayings, her incredible wit or her humbling kindness. She was a friend to everyone. She LOVED her family and friends fiercely. Mare was a faithful Catholic. She attended Mass Saturday evenings and knelt every night in thankful prayer...and always prayed for her family and friends in need. Mare loved to bake...her cookies and cakes were legendary. Mare worked and retired from PNC bank and had the reputation as being the best teller supervisor in the Pittsburgh region. She was a Steeler, Penguins and die hard Indiana Fever fan.
Above everything, our Mare was the most understanding, kindest, funniest, intelligent, supportive, loyal, dependable, GIVING and LOVING daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin and BEST friend to so many. She is loved so far beyond what these words could ever describe. It brings the family and friends immense comfort knowing that a part of Mare will live on through organ donation. The world will be a better place having a part of her carrying on. The family and her friends would like to thank the incredible staff at Forbes Hospital for the compassion, kindness, respect and exemplary care they provided to Mary Ann.
Respecting Mary Ann’s wishes, there will be no visitation . A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held Saturday (November 1) at 10 am at Christ the Divine Shepherd Parish, St. Susanna Church, 200 Stotler Rd; Penn Hills, PA 15235. Interment at Calvary Cemetery will follow after the funeral Mass.
