Mary Lou Laird Obituary

Mary Lou Laird

Mary Lou (Gallagher) Laird was born February 13, 1933 in Herman Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Clifford and Naomi Gallagher. Mary Lou was married to the late Joseph A. Laird for 46 years.  Together they lovingly raised four sons in Wilkinsburg, PA.  She was a devoted mother and wonderful mother-in-law and will be greatly missed by Bill (Loretta), Bob (Jean), Tom (Jeanne), Cliff (Mufit).  She was a fun and loving grandmother of T.J., Jenny Skonezny (Matt), Troy, Maggie, Sarah, Rose, Emily, and Mary. She adored her great granddaughter Hazel.  Her older brothers were the late George and William Gallagher. She is survived by her younger sister Lois Bauer, of Butler, PA.  She is survived by many nieces and nephews.  Mary Lou graduated from Butler High School and went on to nursing school at Pittsburgh Hospital.  She was a dedicated, caring nurse until she was 72 years old.  Mary Lou was a devout member of St. Mary Magdalene Parish, St. James Church, Wilkinsburg.  She will always be remembered for her kindness, laughter, sense of humor, funny stories, delicious meals, homemade soup, trips to amusement parks, beaches, casinos and NYC.  She was dedicated to the mission of AA and served many in the Pittsburgh area with compassion and strength.  The world is a better place having had her in it. The Lairds would like to thank family and friends who supported Mary Lou in her later years. They also would like to recognize with gratitude the staff at Juniper Village who cared for Mary Lou in the last three years. Mass of Christian burial will be private due to Covid-19 restrictions.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to a food bank or similar organization would be greatly appreciated.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
