Mayme Helen Waara Frantti (Mae) passed away on June 2, 2023 at Allegheny Place in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania. Mayme was born in Fulton, Michigan on December 30, 1924. Her father, John, immigrated from Finland. Her mother, Mary Haleppa, was born in Ahmeek, Michigan. Mayme attended high school in Calumet, Michigan along with her future husband Edsel Frantti. After graduation, Mayme moved to Detroit to work for Borrough Adding Machine Company. She attended Electrionic Technological School in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the Federal Communications Training Center in Chicago, Illinois. She was employed as a traffic controller at the WWII Army Flight Control Center in Chicago. On June 24, 1945 Mayme and Edsel Frantti married and moved to Florida where he was stationed in the US Air Force. After the end of WWII they relocated to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where Edsel worked for Westinghouse and Mayme was a devoted mother and homemaker. Additionally, she volunteered extensively at senior centers in the Penn Hills area. Mayme worked as an assistant manager in the Fur and Fine Coat Department at JC Penney in Monroeville for seventeen years. Mayme was preceeded in death by her husband Edsel and her siblings. She is survived by her sons George, Michael, James and five grandchildren Mayme was laid to rest alongside her husband on June 6, 2023.
