Nellie Hayes Obituary


Nellie Hayes
Born October 8, 1925, died peacefully at Seneca Manor, Verona on August 13, 2020.
She was preceded in death by parents Robert and Grace Moore of Madison, NC, four siblings, husband of 40 years, Clair N. Hayes, Jr.; and son, Robert David Hayes. She leaves behind a sister, Nola Moore Halbrook of Reidsville, NC and son Clair Nelson Hayes, III to honor her life and memories. Also left to honor their beloved grandmother, Nellie, are C. Nelson Hayes (Riho) in Japan, Wendy Flynn (Bill) of Asheville, NC, and Michael J. Hayes (Sandy) of Denver, CO. NellIe cherished her great-grandchildren—Maya, Aidan, Tomoki, Levi, Anna, and Selah.

Nellie worked alongside family at the Hayes School Publishing Co. and had been active in Hebron United Presbyterian Church, Penn Hills; and, loved playing cards with friends.

Friends received for visitation at 9:00 am, Friday August 21st at CHARLES W. TRENZ FUNERAL HOME, INC., 11110 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills followed by a memorial service in the funeral home at 10:00. A private internment will follow the memorial at Homewood Cemetery.
