Richard Edward Miller, 75, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024. He was born on February 27, 1949, in Pittsburgh, to the late Charles Homer Miller and Pearl Laverne (Bair) Miller.
A devoted family man, Richard is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, (Margaret) Elaine Miller. Their enduring love and partnership was the cornerstone of his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Ryan Edward Miller (Karen), Leigh Ann Ptak (Aaron), and Ricki Jo Breeger (Scott). Richard was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Sophie, Lucy, and Grant Miller; Alaina, Easton, and Lilah Ptak; and Ella, Hank, and Emma Breeger. He is also survived by his sister, Katherine Gearhart. Richard was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Charles Henry Miller.
Richard graduated from Wilkinsburg High School in 1968. He dedicated his career to People’s Natural Gas, where he worked as a fitter leader and regulator from 1970 until his retirement in 2006. Richard was known for his strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Richard’s passion for the outdoors, especially fishing, was well-known to his family and friends. He found peace and joy in nature, often sharing his love for the outdoors with his children and grandchildren. His devotion to his family was evident in everything he did.
A man of quiet faith, Richard attended Penn Hills Baptist Church and Hebron United Presbyterian Church. His quiet strength and unwavering principles spoke louder than words, inspiring those around him.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at a visitation to be held Saturday 10 AM until 12 noon, at CHARLES W. TRENZ Funeral Home in Penn Hills followed by a memorial service celebrating Richard’s life at 12 noon.
Richard will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His kindness, dedication to family, and love for the simple pleasures in life will be remembered fondly by those whose lives he touched. Above all, he will be remembered for his unwavering love and devotion to his wife, Elaine, and their family.
