Rita Signore Obituary

Our beloved mother, Rita Signore, formerly of Penn Hills, gifted with 91 years of life, passed peacefully on March 7, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Preceded in death by her husband, Frank, Rita is survived by her children, Angela, (Matt) James and Rita-Jean, and her beloved sister Jennie (Longo).

Rita was the youngest of five children, the late James, Gertrude (Iannotti) and Virginia (Brancati). Rita was a grandmother and great-grandmother. She had many loving nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.

We called Rita the first Martha Stewart. Rita would have tea parties for her good friend Teresa’s granddaughters, where they would dress up, had tea sandwiches and a theme each time. Rita was an excellent cook and master baker. Just one of the highlights of our childhood was when she would make our pancakes into different animals or make traditional Italian Easter bread and pies, pastas and holiday cookies. She loved to decorate not just her home but she could wrap gifts to where you didn’t want to open them. She was a great poet, a loyal and generous friend to many but most of all she loved Jesus. Psalm 23, “The Lord is my Shepherd” was her favorite psalm. Before COVID Rita still attended luncheons with her friends, was on Facebook and loved her IPad.

If you so desire, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send your donations to Rita’s favorite charity, So Many Angels, 515 October Court, Plum PA 15239.  A special thanks to UPMC family hospice for their loving care and Charles Trenz Funeral Home. Services will be private, celebration of her life at a later date.
