Yolanda Turak Obituary

Yolanda A. Turak, age 88 formerly of Penn Hills, passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

She was the devoted wife of the late Donald Turak, with whom she shared 61 loving years of marriage before his passing in 2020. Yolanda was a loving and dedicated mother to Diana (Daniel) Gray, Linda (James) Gilboy, and Jacqueline Turak.

She was a treasured Grammie to Erica (Matthew) Miller, Lindsey (Bradley) DeHart, Patrick (Emily) Gilboy, and Erin Gilboy. She was a beloved great‑grandmother to Madelyn, Logan, and Macey Miller and Wesley and Delaney DeHart.

Yolanda is also survived by her brother Rev. Kenneth Cienik, her “sister of her heart” Sandra Cienik, and her dear friend Toni Killian.

She is preceded in death by her parents Jacob and Tillie Cienik and her brother Ronald Cienik.

A woman of deep faith, Yolanda was a charter member of the former St. Gerard’s Parish, where she served for many years as a CCD teacher and Eucharistic minister. She enjoyed playing Canasta with Sandy and Toni, sharing laughter and friendship. One of her most treasured traditions was making pierogi with her family each year, creating a lot of cherished memories.

Per Yolanda’s wishes there will be no visitation. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at Christ the Divine Shepherd Parish (St Susanna Church) at 10 AM on Monday March 23, 2026. Family will welcome visitors, at the church, beginning at 9:15 AM.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Bridges Hospice and Crissy Axon for their compassionate care and support. Memorial contributions made be made in Yolanda’s name: Penn Hills Service Association, 2519 Universal Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235. Arrangements entrusted to Trenz Funeral Home.
